Dear Glen,

We have just watched the last year's NZ Nationals and so amazed on how much you have tought us and improved our dancing in only one year!  You have no idea how grateful we are to Colleen for inviting you last March to teach in our studio and thank you for accepting that invitation!!!

From April 

I started attending Jacky's salsa classes last year. I had never salsa'd in my life so it was going to be something new and totally different for me.
 
I am now attending the advanced course, which tells you somthing - I love it!
 
It is a great way to unwind from a busy week plus it is really social ( I have met some really amazing and wonderful people through the class)
 
Jacky is a wonderful teacher. She explains the movements and steps in a step by step manner which means that everyone can understand.
 
The thing that keeps me going back - it is fun, relaxed and entaining. Dancing needs to be fun so take it from me.. it is!

"I started dancing at Humphreys Dance Studio late 2007 when my singing classes changed to the same evening as my scheduled dance classes at another studio.
Glen made me feel very welcome and at home from the moment I walked in. He uses a relaxed and open teaching style which is both warm and professional at the same time.

Glen takes time to explain steps and routines clearly and where appropriate adds flavour to the class with a well-timed tip on how to improve posture or technique. He also has a delightful sense of humour.
There's always a strong sense of feeling welcome and I feel part of a community of people who simply love to dance. I always leave Humphreys feeling relaxed and happy.

"I was 10 the first time I went along with a friend to a beginner children's class at Humphreys Dance Studio. As luck would have it, I had managed by pure chance to walk into the top studio in Perth.
Debbie-Anne Tierney (Co-Principal) has an amazing gift with children and is the reason why I fell in love with dance. It did not matter whether you were naturally gifted or had two left feet, Debbie-Anne brought out the best in everyone just the same.

She made a massive impact on me as someone who I could aspire towards as a dancer and also as a person. Along with her husband Glen and Mr & Mrs Humphreys, there has always been first class teaching, support and opportunities.

A heart felt thank you to the staff at Humphrey's Dance Studio for making our work function so memorable.

The studio was decorated beautifully and the tables set so very nice. We had the whole place to ourselves for our xmas dinner dance.

There was two amazing floorshows. And then after dinner Mitch (our most excellent DJ) took us through some simple and fun dances

to get everyone up. The atmosphere was relaxed, people could talk and mingle and the music set the scene.

Special thank you to Jacky Shue for facilitating the whole event. And thanks to Mitch and Craig for getting up some of the girls for a dance.

They made the non dancers feel comfortable and everyone had a wonderful time. Regards Judy Boer.

"Humphrey's is the perfect place to start dancing. After years of thinking about dancing one day I finally did it and I picked the perfect place! Humphrey's staff are all so helpful and direct myself, my partner and his sister into the perfect beginners class where they took us through the steps nice and slow. After the first session we were all hooked! We have now gone on to complete a year of dancing and got our Bronze medals in Latin. Next year we hope to get another few medals under our belt! We don't like breaks between our dancing because we enjoy it so much but all the staff and class mates have become our friends. We intend to be at Humphrey's as long as we can I think we'd only stop coming is we moved countries."

I am enjoying Craig Denham’s Gold Latin Medal classes.  Craig is an inspiring Dance Teacher, his passion for dancing is infectious, he always choreographs interesting routines and has a clear and open style when communicating about technique.  Jacky (who organised and teaches the popular Salsa classes) assists Craig and brings an air of fun and friendship to the group and she’s always willing to re-explain some intricate step.  Now and then we are very lucky to have Rosa Filippello to work with us on movement and technique.  Rosa and her dance partner Arkady were ranked 11th at the Blackpool Dance Festival in May 2010, which is open to the World, and she is generous in sharing quick tips to improve our technique and our sense of style.   Thank you for a fabulous class.

A lovely note from one of our Mums:

Just writing to express a huge thanks to you all at Humphreys Dance studio!

My daughter Lily was lucky enough to be a part of your children's scholarship classes in the second half of 2012 and is very excited to have just gone for her Bronze Latin medal.  I cannot thank you enough for the scholarship and for the wonderful introduction we have had to dancing at Humphreys.  Lily has enjoyed the Saturday classes immensely and the fun had by all the teachers and children is just amazing.  It has been a joy to watch, for myself and for all the grannies and rellies we have brought along (Gran'ma is now keen to join a beginners class herself!!).

The young Saturday teachers are just fabulous and they pass on their enthusiasm, humour and obvious love of dance to all the kids that attend.  The recent exams were a case in point - what might have been a competitive or stressful exam environment was far from it - rather it was a wonderful chance for the children to show off what they had learnt and applaud each other's achievements.  Congratulations on creating such an amazing culture at Humphreys and for giving so many children a chance to dance... We will certainly be back next year.

That was an enjoyable and entertaining evening with a talented DJ, Mitchell playing our favourite varieties of music/songs which we could easily apply the dance we have learnt on the dance floor.  As much as enjoying out of dancing on the night, it is entertaining and insipiring just watching the bunch of teenagers whom i believe are competitors dancing graciously and able to bring out the dances, being it cheeky, sexy, classic, funky,etc

Well done again, Humphreys.
